We’ve been feeling a bit trapped in the System recently so have:
Rented out our house
Taken the kids out of school, and
Going to work and live on the road…in a caravan.
Wanna join us?
Have you ever felt like you’re trapped in the system?
Felt like you’re not living true to your values?
Have you ever felt like you’d like to be out and about, exploring? Yet, all you seem to do is chores at the weekend after a big week of work?
Well, Sarah and I’ve been feeling like that for a while now.
We’ve been feeling like we’re just not living true to our values.
When we got married we thought we’d go on adventures all the time.
The last thirteen years of raising a family have been massively rewarding, and we have managed to go on some adventures, but not nearly as many as we’d like.
So we’ve decided to shake things up a bit.
We are currently trying a bit of an experiment. About a month ago Sarah and I decided to rent our house out, take the kids out of school and live of the road for a year.
Now I have to admit we’re in a very fortunate position to be able to do this, I have a job that I can do from anywhere, especially with the help of Elon Musk’s Starlink system and Sarah is parking her forest kinder for a while.
The short of it is:
We’re living in a caravan, driving from town to town up the East Coast of Australia and then who knows where.
I work Mon-Friday while Sarah takes the kids on adventures, and I get to do some adventuring at the weekends in new locations. We’re currently in Agnes Waters in Queensland and have actually escaped the Victorian winter which is pretty awesome.
It’s been a bit hectic, from making the decision, then putting our house up for rent, packing, clearing and cleaning the house from top to bottom and then blitzing the garden to then hitching up the caravan and setting off on the road took three weeks which has not left much time for podcasting, sorry about that.
However, I’ve now got a whole new lens to view parenting through and test to destruction. So the podcasts are going change up a little over the coming weeks.
Now the wheels could still fall off, both figuratively and literally, so I’m not entirely sure how long we’re gonna make it. But we’re going to give it a red hot go; Trip in a Van style.
Now, we only set out last week and I’ve already got some great new material, like how not to drive through boom gates with bikes on the roof, or cook the water pump and battery in the caravan simultaneously. Needless to say I think there are going to be tears and hissy fits—and the kids might get a bit upset too. However, on the flip side, we’re hoping there’s also going to be some exploration, discovery, meeting of new people and adventure, lots of adventure.
And I’d love to have you join us for the journey, so I’ll be publishing updates as we go.
In the meantime, hope you have a great week and enjoy your caffeinated beverage.
